Wabasha Well Inventory

Fred Frederickson grabs a barn cat he calls Zippy near the well pump at his dairy farm. "It's like we don't exist," said Frederickson noting that his well wasn't noted on the environmental impact study. Rochester Post

The Minnesota Department of Health maintains a map (MN Well Index) that provides basic information and locations for water supply wells. One of the main uses of the map is to identify water supplies that may be vulnerable to leaks and spills and to aid responders in emergency situations. A Post Bulletin article (see photo) captured the frustration a well owner can encounter when their water supply is left off the map. To make sure that everyone relying on a private well is considered, the Department of Health has asked us to assist them in updating the map for Wabasha County. To check to see if your well is already inventoried, visit the MN Well Index online map and type in your address. A dot near or at your well's location indicates that your well is already inventoried.

If there is no dot near your property to indicate a well, then your well is not in the MDH's database. Enter your well's info into this Online Form or print the Well Inventory Form and mail it to 611 Broadway Ave 10B#, Wabasha MN, 55981. If you have any questions, call 651-560-2045 or email Katelyn.abts@mn.nacdnet.net. Thank you for your participation!
