The SWCD is a subdivision of State goverment that is governed by a locally elected Board of Supervisors.

The SWCD provides technical and financial assistance for natural resource issues.




The Board of Supervisors meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m.

OUR MISSION:

To provide technical assistance to Wabasha County residents to manage their private lands in a way that promotes a sound economy and sustains/enhances natural resources.

Top 5 Priority Concerns

  1. Soil Erosion - prevention of soil erosion and sedimentation from runoff from agricultural land, construction sites and stream banks.
  2. Nutrient and Manure Management - protection of surface waters by reducing contaminents entering the water. Use of correct methods to prevent nutrient loading from manure and artificial fertilizers from both agricultural and urban areas.
  3. ISTS/Ground Water Protection - protect ground water from contamination to ensure drinking water aquifers retains good quality.
  4. Forest and Pasture Land - improve forest and pasture land management to reduce soil erosion and increase water quality.
  5. Impaired Waters - address impaired watersheds throughout the county to improve water quality.
